Just because Hoda Kotb and her longtime boyfriend, Joel Schiffman, welcomed a new baby girl, Hope Catherine Kotb, into their lives, doesn’t mean that they’re ready for marriage! Apparently, tying the knot is still a big topic of discussion in their household.
“Honestly, I think Joel is more gung-ho about the idea of getting married than Hoda is,” a friend exclusively shared with Closer Weekly. “He sees it as a natural progression of things. But Hoda sees them at their ages — she being 54, Joel being 60, that they could live out their days blissfully without ever tying the knot.”
Even though they’re not on the same page about marriage, Hoda and Joel didn’t think twice about having kids together. Once Joel told his girlfriend that he wanted to help her adopt her first child, Haley Joy Kotb, in 2017, she saw him in a different light.
“She sees how he’s been all in for becoming a dad again fairly late in life, and that makes Hoda just love him all the more,” the source noted. “So if she feels it’s really important to Joel, she’s not going to say no to him. But you would probably be looking at least a year or two down the road.”
While previously appearing on The Wendy Williams Show, Hoda gushed about Joel being an “awesome dad” to Haley. “He is the finest man I have ever met,” she said, and once he signed Haley’s adoption papers, Hoda had no doubt in her mind that Joel was the man for her.
“I cried on his chest and my mascara went down because in that minute he knew that there was nothing that could make me happier,” she said about the adoption. We can’t wait for these two to tie the knot and be husband and wife!
